Remember that time when you were first falling in love and you could not be away from your partner for even a second? Remember how you would always walk close to each other holding hands? Or how you would always be snuggling on the couch or texting each other every ten seconds? Did you get away from those times? Why not start again?
Maybe you were fortunate enough to never have lost ‘that loving feeling‘?
Love is perhaps one of the strongest emotions. But what is love really? Whatever you think it is it must start with friendship right? Or at least friendship is somewhere near the beginning.
What a treat to be able to spend your life with such a special friend. A friend who will stand beside you through thick and thin. A friend who will respect you and admire you even with all your faults. And when that friend stays with you forever? Well, that must be love.
What is it about holding hands?
There are many different forms of hand holding. In America we often see adolescent girls holding hands or mothers holding the hand of their child. I seem to remember once seeing President George W Bush and King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia holding hands while going for a stroll at Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas.
One of the things that always makes me smile is when I see old couples holding hands. Not that type of holding hands because they are old and need to support each other before they fall and can’t get up. That hand holding like they need to be touching each other and not stray too far from each other. The reassurance the other is there.
If you are lucky enough to find a friend who will stick with you forever, be sure to hold their hand. Forever.
