#879 I avoid Black Friday by doing my shopping online

I have written in the past how Black Friday is a scam and how Black Friday was a deliberate invention of the National Association of Retailers to create a sense of urgency for the masses to go out and buy stuff. It creates an urge in people, that I can not understand, to line up over night for the ‘privilege’ of rushing into some store with a bunch of crazed bargin seekers to save a few bucks on some ‘must have’ item. It is just too much stress and hassle for me.

I mean who wants to wait in a line like this all night…

…just to save a few bucks on some item you probably don’t even really need?

Not me!

This is why I choose to do most of my shopping online. Oh sure, it is romantic and noble to say I prefer to shop at a Mom and Pop store but really, time is often limited and in this day of technology it is more convenient to do my shopping online. You can find almost anything while shopping online on websites like Amazon or eBay and I don’t just mean on Cyber Monday. Good deals can be found any day.

Like just the other day I needed to get a new copy of the James Bond movie “Skyfall” so I went to my favorite James Bond site LiveTheBondLife.com, visited the movies page, found exactly what I was looking for and ordered it directly from that site through Amazon. And thanks to Amazon Prime I can get my package in two days with free shipping. Not too bad eh?

And if that doesn’t make you smile I don’t know what will.
