#805 A 2 dollar bill makes me feel like a million bucks

It is always fun to get a 2 dollar bill. They are not spotted too often and many people think they are out of circulation even though as of April 30, 2007 there were $1,549,052,714 worth of the 2 dollar bill in circulation worldwide.

The first 2 dollar bill notes (called United States Notes or “Legal Tenders”) were issued by the federal government in 1862 and featured a portrait of the first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton (1789-1795).

In celebration of the United States’ bicentennial, a $2 Federal Reserve note, Series 1976, was introduced. The new design of the 2 dollar bill maintained the portrait of Jefferson on the face but the back was changed from Monticello to a vignette of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Funny fact is that all of the people at the signing could not be included in the picture due to size restrictions. Not their size, the size of the bill.

My friend Paul Kyriazi uses $100 bills as a bookmark for the book he is reading. That is cool though I prefer to use a 2 dollar bill.

I like the 2 dollar bill so much I am thinking about going down to the bank and ordering a whole bunch of them to use to pay for things or for tipping. Film producer Casey Neistat even made this 3 minute movie about how much he loves the 2 dollar bill. Watch it here or, better yet, on this page.

Whenever I use 2 dollar bills people always end up smiling and that makes me smile.

Nothing wrong with that right?
