Winter is coming! I can now again use the Ned Stark quote from Game of Thrones and annoy people. There is absolutely no debate on how winters can be harsh and most people absolutely hate the season. Ok, maybe not most. Maybe it is just me? However finding reasons to make us happy should be our priority. Of course winters are awful for a variety of reasons; I mean you get sick like all the time and going outside in that freezing stuff is something that we all hate to do…unless of course you like football in the snow. However I’m pretty sure we can find plenty of reasons to smile about during this season as well. Let’s start with a few obvious ones: Christmas, New Year and of course hot chocolate. Never forget the Hello Kitty hot chocolate!
But happiness isn’t really confined to things that are essentially stereotyped to happiness inducing things. For example I just mentioned hot chocolate as it makes me happy but can we generalize such a thing? Of course we can’t do that, maybe someone is not down with chocolate to begin with. It is true that we all have different ways to perceive happiness and what I discovered last winter was the thing that, like my warm socks, always puts a smile on my face; warm woolen mittens. The discovery was quite accidental actually as I never wore any sort of gloves. One day as my fingers were literally about to fall off I decided to actually look for something that I can wear around my house. As I was looking in my closet I found a pair of woolen mittens. I recalled they were knitted by my grandmom quite some time ago and as soon as I touched them my hand felt an instant relief. The very touch was soothing enough and had that creamy effect like when you taste hot chocolate. It often happens that the things that make a person happy turn out to be quite beneficial. I mean just wear woolen mittens for a single day and you’ll see the difference.
And yes you need to get yourself prepared because winters are truly coming and we need reasons to stay happy. So, if you think that hot chocolate makes you happy then drink loads of it! Just one suggestion for you, try doing your favorite winter thing such as setting up your inflatable lawn decorations for Christmas while wearing warm woolen mittens as a smile is guaranteed!
